Gary's Story

In 1978, I found myself in Las Vegas, NV, searching for my purpose. Then, I stumbled upon a new business idea - tinting car windows. No one else in the area offered this service, and I knew I had found my calling.

With grit and determination, I took a job at D&G Products and started installing 3M Scotchtint in buildings. But my passion was in tinting vehicles, so I began slowly by tinting just one or two cars a week in the parking lot. The scorching sun bore down on me as I worked, but I persevered, knowing that this was what I was meant to do.

For two years, I toiled away, building my business bit by bit. And then, I was able to move to a garage and take out a 1/4 page ad in the "Yellow Pages". It wasn't much, but it was a start. I dreamed of bigger things, but I knew it would take time and effort.

Despite thinking it was a shame that the garage wasn't located on a busy street, my boss took action and moved the business to a location that saw 175,000 daily drivers. My heart swelled with pride as I saw my dreams starting to come true.

As my business continued to grow, I hired more installers to help me tint cars. We could now handle up to 25 cars per day, and I was the manager in charge of the automotive department. The joy I felt in my heart was indescribable. I had found my purpose in life, and I was living it every single day.

But as with all journeys, there were bumps in the road. The boss decided to sell the business, and I found myself at a crossroads once again. But I didn't let it break me. Instead, I moved to San Diego, CA, determined to continue on my path.

Over the years, I worked for various tinting shops, but I became disillusioned with the practice of overcharging customers for carbon or ceramic upgrades. In November 2018, I decided to start my own mobile automotive window tinting service, "TrueTints by Gary Brewer," which offered high-quality Nano-Carbon IR and Nano-Ceramic films at fair prices.

I was driving a 1987 Toyota Pickup with a camper shell, I set out on a new journey. It wasn't easy, but I was fueled by my passion and my desire to provide exceptional service and quality work to all my customers. And over time, my business grew. I now use a 2015 Ford Transit Connect and carry three lines of film, totaling 16 different options to choose from.

The journey of TrueTints by Gary has been long and challenging, but it has been worth it. My heart is full, knowing that I am living my purpose every single day. And I am grateful for every moment, every customer, and every obstacle that has brought me here.
